Wike commission Akpabu-Egbeda road linking Elele-Omoku

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike during inauguration of the newly constructed Akpabu-Egbeda road

Rivers  Governor, His Excellency, Nyesom Wike has inaugurated the newly constructed Akpabu-Egbeda road that links EleleOmoku road.

The 9-kilometer single carriageway was constructed by Rivers Government and commissioned on Friday, 10 March 2023 by Governor Nyesom Wike.

Providing the project description at the commissioning ceremony, Rivers Commissioner for Works, Dr. George-Kelly D. Alabo, FNIQS said the construction of the road project was flagged off less than three months ago and it is a virgin road.

“This project was started on the 4th of January, 2023, two months and 6 days after, we are here to commission the project.

This road is part of the Akpabu-Omudioga road, it is a virgin road.

“This road has opened up Akpabu and Egbeda to thousands of hectares of land for mechanised farming and other agro-allied industries.

The road also serves as a bypass between Elele-Omoku road,” he said.

In his address, Governor Nyesom Wike maintained that his administration is committed to delivering dividends of democracy to Rivers people.

“We were at this same spot two months ago to flag off the construction of this project, today we are commissioning it.

This shows how committed we are to the delivering dividends of democracy to Rivers people.

“I commend the contractor, Monier Construction Company (Nigeria) Limited for delivering a quality job. I commend them for not letting us down.

“The last time I came here, I promised that we will do Egbeda internal roads.

I am pleased to announce to you that we have awarded the contract for the construction of Egbeda internal roads to the same contractor.

“I have directed the Commissioner for Works to prepare an Irrevocable Standing Payment Order (ISPO) to that effect so that there won’t be stories that we are owing the contractor,” the Governor added.
