Wike bans use of public schools by political Parties without approval

Governor, Nyesom Ezewon Wike of Rivers State has place a ban on the use of public schools ground in the State for Political Campaigns without the approval of the State Ministry of Education.

The Governor who announced the ban in a Statewide Radio/Television Broadcast in Port Harcourt, the State Capital, also announced a caution fee of five million naira to be paid for the school premises being sought.

He advices anyone or group of persons willing to use the schools for campaign grounds to apply two weeks before the date of the campaign to the State Ministry of Education for approval.

He said a cautionary fee of five million naira should be paid to the State Government by political parties in case attendees destroy any facilities in the school.

He directed Local Government Council Chairmen to stop any Political rally in their Area if there is no evidence of approval from the State Ministry of Education.
