The Cross Rivers State Police Commissioner, Aminu Alhassan, has led a team of personnel to enforce the directive of the Inspector General Of Police IGP on the total ban of use of Spy number plates by vehicle owners in the State.
The Inspector General of Police IGP, Usman Baba Alkali had directed all police formations across the country to commence enforcement on nation- wide ban of use of spy vehicle plate numbers without exception.
A statement signed by the Police Public Relations officer PPRO, Irene Ugbo, quoted the CP’s public order that the authorisation of the use of police Spy Number Plates had been revoked indefinitely and that the command was set to impound and prosecute any motorist who violated the IGP’s order.
The PPRO explained that the essence of the order was to forestall the continuous abuse and disregard of extant laws guiding the use of roads as well as observing traffic rules and regulations .
The police spokesperson in Cross River State stated that any individual or company that hid under the Privileges of spy number plates in the state that had been revoked was found guilty to be arrested and prosecuted.
She said the enforcement team which the Cross River State Commissioner of Police, Alhassan Aminu, led at the state level also involved all Area Commanders, and divisional police Officers in the state as well as tactical commanders in order to effectively and professionally ensure immediate enforcement of the order .
