Schools and churches are competing for space in Igbo Etche. Our correspondent report that every mile apart is either a church or school. Some of the schools are either own by some of the churches or by private persons, and some of them are in horrible condition.
Some indigenes of the area who do not want their names in mention told this correspondent that the situation is purely for business purposes. They also blame the situation on the increasing population density in the area.
According to them, government schools in the area are not enough to cater for the teeming population of school children in the area. Also a pastor who spoke to the correspondents said government should be blamed for the situation.
He said if government live up to its responsibility people will not just be setting up schools anyhow… According to him, poverty has also driven the people into that as a ways of survival
