The Rivers State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism Mrs. Tonye Briggs Oniyide says the Bua-Kaani Unity Festival is one community-based Festival to watch out for during the yuletide.
The Commissioner who made this known on Saturday, in a goodwill message she sent to organizers of the festival said, “the people of Rivers State deserve to eat together, network, and catch fun during this season”.
“The Bua-Kaani Unity Festival is an attempt to rescue our communities from all forms of backwardness and launch us into a new haven of tourism and I stand with you in this process”, she said.
Mrs. Oniyide challenged the Organisers to use the period to redirect the narrative, insisting that the community and indeed Ogoniland have the needed manpower to make the festival a yearly event.
“I am endorsing this festival because it believes in the support for home-grown talents, doing things our way and especially because we will be showcasing our food, dances, masquerades in a peaceful, very harmonious and most beneficial way,” she equally said.
The Commissioner enjoined the youths, who are drivers of the festival, to ensure that the events are well packaged for International attention, emphasizing “I trust you to do so”.
The Bua-Kaani Unity Festival is scheduled for the 30th and 31st of December 2022 at Bua-Kaani in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State.
