Rivers Govt. sets up needs assessment committee for state owned schools

The Rivers state commissioner for education, Prof. Prince Chinedu Mmom, as part of the programs scheduled for the year, inaugurated a four man committee charged with the responsibility of accessing the needs of both staffs and facilities of all government owned schools in the 23 Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The Committee Chairman for Khana, Dr. Edward Imo, made this statement yesterday when he and his team paid a courtesy visit to the Khana Council Boss, Dr. Thomas Bariere, in his official residence in Bori.

He said the essence of the project is to improve on the standard of education in line with the vision of His Excellency Governor Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, which is to reposition Rivers State to be among the best in the provision of quality, accessible and affordable education in the world.

Dr. Thomas on his part, assured that he would continue to uplift the standard of education in his domain through critical intervention.

According to him “we shall continue to do all what we can to ensure that our people receive the best in the educational sector as part of our responsibility of securing their future and of course giving back to that society and also fulfilling our campaign promises on which we were elected.

He further made known to the committee that his administration upon assumption of office, initiated, completed and handover six classroom block, primary school with staff quarters to the ministry of education which will be put to use anytime soon as part of his intervention in the sector.

The team members under the Need Assessment for Khana Local Government Area are:

(4) Dr. Miter Nigeria.

The team also embarked on ascertaining the level of disruption of structures in secondary schools within Khana metropolis as part of their assignment from the ministry of education.
