The Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has reinstated his commitment to support Pamo University of Medical Sciences through infrastructural development, and a scholarship Scheme to actualize the aspirations of Rivers people.
Wike made this known to journalists during the second convocation ceremony of the Medical Institute in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State Capital.
PAMO University of Medical Sciences started its academic activities five years ago with the academic of graduands at the Institution.
In his Convocation Lecture titled ” Indiscipline”, A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, Kanu Agabi, called on the Federal Government to pay more attention to the education sector and integrate orientation to surmount the challenges confronting the Country.
He noted that the exodus of Doctors living the shore of Nigeria for greener pastures abroad was doing so, because of poor welfare and infrastructure decay.
Agabi charged the new graduands of PAMO University to be good ambassadors thriving for excellence in their future endeavors.
The Rivers Governor while congratulating the graduates said Pamo University was a great success given its achievements within the period.
He however promised to always support the Institution to actualize the aspirations of Rivers people in the medical field.
The Pro-Chancellor of the University and Former Governor of Rivers State Dr. Peter Odili thanked God for making the Institute achievements in less than five years, he commended the State Governor for his immense contributions to the growth and development of the institution
The graduands were advised to make a difference and treat patients with integrity.
The high point of the convocation ceremony was the presentation of awards to the best graduating students.
