Rivers flood management taskforce assured flood victims to ease their suffering

The Rivers state government flood management taskforce has assured internally displaced victims who have been sacked by the ravaging flood of the state government’s commitment to ameliorating their suffering.

The chairman of the task force committee George Nwaeke who made this known to journalists During an on-the-spot assessment in the Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni local government area of Rivers state to ascertain the damage done by the flood disaster promised to provide them with relief materials in the coming days.

It appears that the Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni local government area of Rivers is the worst hit by the ravaging floods as the houses in the communities have been submerged by the ravaging floods and property worth millions of naira destroyed.

The house of the former governor of Rivers state Peter Odilli was not spared.

The rivers state government flood intervention committee visited about four communities and internally displaced person camps IDPs to ascertain the level of damage done by the flood disaster.

The chairman of the committee George Nwaeke, who felt unhappy over the devastating effects of the floods assured the people that, in few days, there will be the provision of relief materials to cushion the effects and ameliorate their sufferings.

The effects of the flood disaster have been unprecedented, the living conditions of the people are pathetic, especially women and children who were highly vulnerable.

The task force Committee promised the people quality healthcare. The Stakeholders commended the rivers state government’s efforts so far and promised to support the kind gesture.
