Rivers flood disaster: Internally displaced persons call for help

Some internally displaced persons in the various Internally Displaced Persons IDP camps in the ahead west local government area of Rivers State are lamenting the poor and inhumane conditions of the camps and calling for immediate government intervention.

Some of the displaced persons who spoke to it said they needed urgent medical attention and other relief materials such as mattresses and mosquito insecticide-treated nets.

The negative impacts of the ravaging floods have started manifesting at the various internally displaced persons camps across the country.
The situation of these women, men, and children at the ahoada, edoha IDP camps in Rivers State were not different as they lamented the inhuman conditions of the community secondary school being used as shelters without doors and windows.

Displaced from their ancestral homes by the ravaging flood, they are calling on the government at all levels to come to their aid by providing them with basic human needs that will make the place a bit habitable.

Worried about the living conditions of his people the king of the Upapa kingdom, his royal Highness Felix otuwarikpo called for more support for the displaced persons.

Government at all levels as well as well-spirited individuals must rise to the occasion to assuage the sufferings and pains these flood victims were contending with.
