Population trial Census: Exercise Underway in Brass LGA in Bayelsa

A total of eight hundred and twenty-eight personnel of the National Population Commission have been deployed to Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa State for the ongoing trial census, taking place in selected council areas across all six geopolitical zones of Nigeria.

NPC’s Federal Commissioner for Bayelsa State, Gloria Izonfuo who disclosed this in an interaction with newsmen on the exercise at her office in Yenagoa, assured that the exercise would be meticulous and no stone would be left unturned to provide a good foundation for the actual conduct of the 2023 Housing and Population Census.

Speaking to journalist, on the trial housing and population census ongoing in Adamawa, Bayelsa, Anambra, Katsina, Ogun and Nassarawa States, Federal Commissioner, Gloria Izonfuo said Brass Local Government Area was selected because of its perculiar terrain and a baseline for States in the Niger Delta.

According to her, enumeration of houses have already began, to be followed by enumeration of individuals She intimated that advanced technology have been introduced to ensure data from census are reliable and verifiable

The Federal Commissioner ruled out any possibility of manipulation, noting that personnel have been charged to enumerate people based on physical presentations.

Izonfuo used the medium to solicit the support of the public, traditional rulers and security agencies to ensure the exercise is carried out without hitches.
