Police shot and killed man during youth election in Onne community

One youth identified as Amasi Victor has reportedly died during an election in Onne community in Rivers State.

Eyewitness report that victim was shot dead by a police officer that was there to maintain law and order during the election.

Meanwhile the police authority in the state has refuted claims that one of his officer shot dead a youth during election in Onne community.

But the Chairman of Eleme Local Government Area, Obarilpmate Ollor has said he was waiting for a comprehensive report from the police authority to certain the authenticity of the sad event which occurred in the early hours of yesterday.

Late Amasi Victor until his dead was ardent supporter Hon. Ojukaye Flag Amachree of the All Progress Congress APC loyal to the Minister of Transportation, Hon. Rotimi Ameachi. Amasi Victor has reportedly complain about recent empowerment by some politicians in the area only to buy favour from youths in the area. He was quoted thus:

“Onne youths have you noticed something in recent times? Do you know that the recent times empowerment coming out to our people? The truth is, empowerment has started coming out because of the fear JIJI, a front line Aspirant for the forthcoming Onne youths election. The fear of JIJI is the beginning of empowerment” .

He was reported to have quoted this before the election on his Facebook page. Meanwhile, investigation is still ongoing by security agencies to unravel the cause of his dead.
