A Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has struck out a suit by the People’s Democratic Party challenging the eligibility of the Accord’s Governorship Candidate and running mate to contest the 2023 general elections in Rivers State for lack of jurisdiction.
Presiding Judge, Justice STEPHEN DAYLOP-PAM in a separate suit also struck out the PDP suit against all the national Assembly candidates of Accord for lack of jurisdiction.
Justice DAYLOP-PAM, who decided not to go into the merit of the case, based his judgment on the recent decision of the appeal court in Lagos division and Rivers State which said that no court has jurisdiction to hear a case filed by another political party on issues bothering internal party affairs.
Justice Daylop Pam, further stated that any attempt by him to interfere in the matter after an appellate court had decided on a similar matter will amount to him being tagged a rascal.
JOY NUNEE and BENJAMIN OMEJE who represented Accord, the governorship candidate, its running mate and national Assembly candidates, who spoke to newsmen outside the court described the court judgement as a victory for Accord and democracy.
the governorship candidate of Accord, DUMO LULU-BRIGGS thumbs up to the court for putting a stop to every meddlesomeness by PDP in other political parties.
Meanwhile Counsel to PDP, DIKE UDENNA declined to make any statement after the judgment.
