The Legislative Assembly has met with delegation of Okada Union to discuss the continues arbitrary hike of transport fare in Okrika Local Government.
Members, through the committee of the whole led by the leader Hon. Paul G. Abam met with the Union leaders; Chairman Minainyo Tamuno and Secretary Ogbonna Ogbu at the secretariat.
Hon. Paul expressed displeasure over the non implementation of the earlier agreement with the union leaders to make downward review of their services.
He said, this is not acceptable by our people, citizens are suffering due to the continues hike of transport fare couple with bad economic policy by the Federal Government.
“We’re institution guided by democratic principles and so therefore we call you here for the second time, to engage you on a table discussion on the way forward.”
In responding, the leader of the delegation and Chairman of the union Tamuno thank the 7th Assembly and promised to take drastic action for the full implementation.
In firm resolved, the 7th Assembly directed the union;
1. To put up workable task force team to monitor and regulate price in designated picking point.
2. All necessary back up to allow you for the full implementation of your actions were fully activated.
3. As appeal by the union leaders, We give the union One month of workable time frame to revert to status quo.
