Ahead of the March 18th Governorship and State Assembly Elections, two factions of National Youth Council of Ogoni People led by Matthew Dighi and Kingston Menele have closed ranks and distanced themselves from any endorsement of particular governorship candidate in the state for the purpose of peace in Ogoni land during and after the elections.
This according to them, was to set the record straight to the level of their involvement in politics.
The leaders of the group made this known in a ten-point communique jointly signed by the two NYCOP factional presidents, Matthew Dighi and Kingston Menele.
The statement read by Mathew Dighi said the organization was apolitical and does not have the mandate to endorse any candidate.
Kingston Menele also cautioned politicians from Ogoni extraction as well as other parts of the state to desist from engaging youths to cause electoral violence during the March 18th polls.
They further debunked news of balkanization in NYCOP while assuring the people of Ogoni ethnic group, their resolve to promote peace and unity during and after the forthcoming elections.
