The Minister of Transportation, Mu’azu Jaji Sambo has assured security personnel deployed under the deep blue projects of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, adequate welfare to be able to fight sea pirates in Nigeria’s territorial waters.
Mu’azu Sambo made this known during the graduation ceremony of 104 trainees in the Maritime Security Unit, MSU, Unmanned Aerial System, UAS, and Armoured vehicle Mechanics which took place at the Elele Military Barracks, in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The establishment of the Integrated National Security and Waterway Protection Infrastructure also known as the Deep Blue Project was aimed at managing, controlling, and protecting the Nigerian maritime domain from sea pirates and other forms of external aggression.
Addressing the graduands, the Minister of Transportation, Mu’azu Jaji Sambo charged the personnel under the Deep Blue Projects to maintain high spirits in the discharge of their duties and functions.
Speaking on the successes recorded under the scheme, the Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, Bashir Jamoh also called on the International Community to look into the issues of insurance premium payments on Nigerian bound cargos.
The event also featured exhibitions and presentations of certificates to the best graduating personnel.
