Naira Scarcity: Nigerians lament hardships after the election

Nigerians have continued to lament over the hardships occasioned by the scarcity of the newly redesigned Bank notes four days after the presidential and national assembly elections.

Some of the agitated bank customers who spoke in port Harcourt called on the Central Bank of Nigeria CBN to make available the new naira Notes now that the presidential election was over and a winner announced.

According to the central bank of Nigeria, CBN, the redesigned denominations of N200, N500, and N1,000 naira notes and the new limits on large cash withdrawals would help curb money laundering and make digital payments the norm in Africa’s biggest economy.

Other reasons given for the paucity of the new naira Notes were that it will help to curb vote buying during the presidential and national assembly elections.

Four days after the elections, Nigerians are still confronted with the difficulty in accessing cash when they thought that the situation would have been better after the election.

They are appealing to the CBN to make the New naira Notes available as the sufferings were becoming unbearable.

They say now that the presidential and national assembly elections were over, the CBN should inject more money into money banks for accessibility.
