The Hydrocarbon Pollution and Remediation Project has celebrated 2022 World Environment Day with the public lecture: “FROM STOCKHOLM 1972 TO ISSUES OF SUSTAINABILITY IN OGONILAND 50 YEARS AFTER VIA HYPREP 2016” and the theme: “ONLY ONE EARTH, a lecture delivered by a professor of energy, Professor Chidi Ibe.
The event which took place at the Khana Council Secretariat had in attendance, the Board of Trustees Chairman, Mike Nwielaghi, the Project Coordinator, Ferdinand Giadom, the chairman of Khana Local Government Area, Thomas Bariere, Rivers State House of Assembly Committee Chairman on Environment, Dumle Maol, the Gbenemene of Tai Kingdom, G. N Gininwa and a host of others.
The event also witnessed the formal Inauguration of environment club in some selected schools in Ogoni.
The celebration is led by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and held annually on 5 June since 1973, World Environment Day is the largest global platform for environmental public outreach and is celebrated by millions of people across the world.
