Khana chairman vows to bring illegal refinery to an end in Khana

Khana chairman Thomas Bariere and security operative at the site of illegal refinery in Khana LGA

As part of effort to cramp down on illegal refinery operators in Rivers State and in adherence to the directive of the executive Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Ezewon Wike, the Executive chairman of Khana Local Government Area, Thomas Bariere has vowed to bring to book those operating illegal refinery in Khana.

The chairman said this when he led the security operatives to destroy a newly built illegal refinery site in Bane Community in Khana Local Government Area.

Speaking with newsmen immediately after the operation, Thomas Bariere said while the danger of the illegal refinery is enormous which also effect the economy negatively, he said it’s the major cause of soot in the state.

He stressed that acting on the directive of the state government, his administration will leave no stone unturned in making sure the perpetrators of the act are brought to book

You will recall that the executive Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Ezewon Wike had declared 19 illegal refinery operators wanted in a state broadcast on the 9th of January and also directed all Local Government chairmen to fish out operators of the act in their various localities.
