Joint security operatives rescue 50 underaged, arrest 3 gang syndicates in Rivers

50 underaged girls were rescued from three gang syndicates in Rivers by the Nigerian navy ship, NNS Pathfinder has handed over three suspects and fifty victims including underage girls used as sex slaves to the National Agency for the prohibition of trafficking in persons for further investigation, rehabilitation, and prosecution.

The victims were rescued (include the name of the week they were rescued) during a joint raid in two different brothels in port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital.

The rescued operations of the underage girls were effected in a joint raid of two separate brothels in the Diobu area of Port Harcourt by personnel of the Nigerian navy ship NNS pathfinder, the NIGERIAN security and civil defense NSCDC, and the National Agency for the prohibition of trafficking in persons NAPTIP.

The Rivers state coordinator of NAPTIP, Nwamaka Ekediashi, said the girls will be rehabilitated and reintegrated into society while those involved in the illicit trade will be investigated and prosecuted.

Seventeen-year-old Mirable, who had the same experience as the other girls, said she was lured from Anambra state by a lady who promised to get her a job.
