HYPREP BoT Chairman commends Buhari on Ogoni power project, seeks IOCs support

The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the (HYPREP) Dr. Mike Nwilaghi

The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Hydrocarbon Pollution and Remediation Project (HYPREP) Dr. Mike Nwilaghi has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for the approval of the Ogoni Power projects.

Dr. Mike Nwilaghi stated,” I thank President Mohammadu Buhari immensely for this Christmas gift, I also thank the Federal Executive Council, the Honourable Minister of Environment Mohammed Abdulaziz Esq, the Board of Trustees for their support, and the project Coordination Office headed by Dr. Fednand Giadom.”

He also enjoined other International Support Institutions to identify with the project to make it a reality: “I call on the International Oil Companies, IOCs, to continue to support us.”

“Each time we call for their support for money for this project, they’ve been doing it” he added.

“We need more money, I pray that the Federal Government, NNPC, SPDC, and its Joint Venture Partners continue to support us and give us the needed funds for the Projects” he posited.

Dr. Mike Nwilaghi made this known to NPress in his hometown in Buan Community during his annual end-of-year support program, where he presented wrappers as well as cash gifts to the less privileged from Buan, Dobulo, Kwawa and Kono Communities of Khana LGAs of Rivers called on the people to always show gratitude to God for his love and provisions.

Speaking on the motivation behind the program, he stated “this is what I do each year to carry along the less privileged, the indigent ones, if you look at how numerous our needs and wants are, you will not think of the poor and needy in our midst.”

“So I do this today, I extend this gift to over a hundred people, it is not a political jamboree, it is for the Church and the Community so that they can feel belonging, the mood of the season, to be happy and smile like others,” he stated.

In his homily, Reverend Father Chris Amaze CSSP of the St Pius Parish Buan thanked God for Dr. Mike Nwilaghi and prayed to God for long life and more prosperity for him, recalling that,

“Last year we were here but not in this magnitude which shows that we need to grow and develop more and more, so may God grant more promotion for the man who has brought us here today” he stated.

He added, “you see my dear brothers, it is not that Dr. Mike Nwilaghi is the richest person in this area, but it is from the heart, he has the willingness to share and the Lord has touched him to do this charitable thing for all of us”.

On his part, the Assistant Secretary of the Buan Council of Chiefs and Elders Chief Nwigha T.C commended Dr. Mike Nwilaghi for having the interest of the people at heart, he called on other sons and daughters of Buan to follow his fine example.

“On behalf of the community, I want to thank Dr. Mike Nwilaghi for this extraordinary show of love and affection for our people, and may God push you to greater heights so that we can continue to enjoy more of this.”

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Tambari Roseline Tormaa from Duburo Community and the President of the Catholic Women Organisation of the St Pius Quasi Parish Buan stated that she lacks words to express her feelings to Dr. Mike Nwilaghi.

“This is not the first time, he did this last year but I did not benefit from that last year, I only nominated people and when they came back, they were very excited.

“what Dr. Nwilaghi has done today mostly to my women and the few men among us is a great gesture and we are very grateful to him.”

“Even if we could afford this on our own, you see, there is something special about gifts, it gives excitement so we thank God for our father, Dr. Mike Nwilaghi and we pray God to bless him more and grant him long life,” the CWO President stated.

Another beneficiary, Mr. Fidelis James Nwinye from Kono, says, ” Last Sunday, I was informed that Dr. Mike wanted to show love to the Church, especially for the widows, women, youths, and men from the CWO, CMO, and CYO.

“In my station, I am the Youth President, so we all came here today to his compound and he has shown us love as a true Christan, my prayer is that God should keep him and grant him the strength to do  more”.
