The counseling association of Nigeria Rivers state chapter has sensitized the public on the need to recognize people living with disabilities in the country.
They made this known during an advocacy and awareness road walk in celebration of the world y of persons with disabilities with the theme of transformative solutions for inclusive development.
People with disabilities suffer all forms of discrimination and marginalization in society and a day like this is set aside to celebrate them
This year’s theme which is transformative solutions for inclusive development has been described as very appropriate.
It was on this note that the counseling association of Nigeria Rivers state chapter took to the streets in port Harcourt to desensitize the public to give those with disabilities a sense of belonging in the society
They said there was ability in disability, hence the need for government at all levels to involve them in politics, and support inclusive free education, and employment among other benefits.
These disabled people who could not hold their joy expressed gratitude to those who took time out of their busy schedules to celebrate with them.
