Group to drag HYPREP to EFCC over $366,000 Ogoni clean-up fund

The Ogoni Development Initiative has threatened to drag the Hydrocarbon Pollution and Remediation Project, HYPREP to EFCC over an alleged mismanagement and misappropriation of over $366,000 funds meant for clean-up in Ogoniland.

The president of the group, Douglas Fabeke said this in a stakeholders meeting held in Port Harcourt, tagged: “Final Declaration” called for a review of funds meant for the project, saying, there was nothing tangible to justify the clean-up exercise that has been politicized.

The group expressed dissatisfaction with the ways and manner which the fund meant for the project is expended.

In an eight-pages document read by its president, the group said they have the support of the entire Ogoni and so they are asking HYPREP to render account of how funds meant for the project are spend to the people of Ogoni, else it shall invite the EFCC for an investigation into the activities of HYPREP.
