The Rivers Government says it spends about three billion naira annually for external certificate examinations for students in public schools.
The State Commissioner for Education, Professor Prince Chinedu Mmom, stated this during the distribution of instructional materials to Directors of Education in the various zones of the State in Port Harcourt, the State Capital.
The Wike-led administration says its provision of massive infrastructure will not make sense if human capital development was not given equal or more attention hence its commitment to quality and accessible education.
The Education Commissioner who stated this during the distribution of instructional and learning materials for the universal basic education Programme and senior secondary schools, said, the State Government spends about three billion Naira on external certificate examinations annually.
Professor Mmom told the Zonal Education Directors to ensure that the instructional materials were put to effective use.
The President, Nigeria Confederation of principals of Secondary Schools, Ewoh Ellah Gordon, commended the Rivers State Government for providing the learning aids.
The instructional materials distributed to schools across the 23 local government areas of the State included record diaries, registers, textbooks, and markers.
