Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike has redeemed the twenty thousand dollars pledge, he made to players of Rivers united at a reception for winning the 2021/2022 Nigeria professional football league title.
Governor Wike, who announced the fulfilment of the pledge, through the Rivers state sports commissioner, Christopher Green, urged the players to strive for excellence on the continent
Players of Rivers united were in joyous mood after sports commissioner, Christopher Green broke the news of governor wike’s fulfilment of the equivalent of twenty thousand dollars promise made to the team in local currency.
Christopher Green, who described governor Wike’s largesse as the first of its kind in the country, said the fifteen point six million naira will turn their lives around for good.
Officials and players of the team applauded governor Wike for matching action with words.
Rivers united won the league title last season with four matches to the end of the season.
