The Acting Vice Chancellor of the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, IAUE, Professor Okey Onuchuku has commended the Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike for supporting the Institution’s Infrastructure Development.
The Acting VC stated this while briefing newsmen on the achievements recorded so far in the past year when he assumed office.
On the eighteenth of November 2021, Professor Okey Onuchuku was appointed as the Acting Vice Chancellor of the Institution by Governor Nyesom Wike.
One year after, the Professor says the Institution has recorded remarkable success in the accreditation of more courses, restructuring both Undergraduate and Postgraduate Programmes in line with the National Universities Commission, NUC standards.
On infrastructural development, he says the English House was completed while the Social Science Faulty Building was in the advanced stages. He is the Governor for embarking on the ongoing massive rehabilitation of the Ndele Campus of the Institution
Professor Onuchuku said the University was also exploring ways of generating more revenues hence the need to set up water factories and bread-baking factories which will soon come onstream.
Other notable achievements were the renovation of hostels, the construction of kitchens for all the hostel blocks, and perimeter fencing to avoid encroachment at the main campus and the Ndele campus.
