Gov Sule lauds MDF organized Football competition

The third edition of the Maikaya Development Foundation, (MDF), Football Competition came to a closed with a match between Kofa FC of Toto defeating Emani FC by 2 goals against 1 to win the year’s football fiesta.

Speaking to newsmen on Sunday at Toto LGA of Nasarawa State, the State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule commended the Organizer and Proprietor of Maikaya Development Foundation for muscling out resources that saw the successful conduct of the football competition which he described as a unifying.

The Governor who was represented by the Commissioner of Health, Pharmacist Ahmed Yahaya, the Governor said he is elated with the development, assuring that his administration will always stand by any privately spirited individual or organization with a vision of adding value to the State developmental goals, especially in the area of youth development and empowerment.

“What has happened today in Toto, is key to the policies and programs of my administration.

“As a sports lover, I have always put in the available resources towards youths development, especially in sports, that is why we are working hard to upgrade our sporting facilities in the State.

So I must commend the Maikaya Development Foundation, headed by one of our own, Alhaji Musa Maikaya, who has divulged his resources to not only host the tournament but encourages youth productivity” Gov Sule said.

Also contributing, the Chairman, of the Kogi State Civil Service Commission, Barrister Tanko Musa, said he is witnessing the fifth edition of the Maikaya Foundation events, which does not stop at a football competition, but cut across awards of scholarships to students of tertiary institutions from Toto LGA and cultural festivals.

“I am glad to be one of the guests in the football tournament organized by my brother and a friend, who is committed to ensuring the development of his community”.

According to him, the Maikaya Foundation has stood the test of times in the history of not just Toto, but Nasarawa State as a whole. That is why he always made sure the Foundation is encouraged and Supported to fulfilling its mandate.

On his part, the Nasarawa State Commissioner of Sports and Youth Development, Ambassador Lucky Isaac Yargwa stated that the administration of Engineer Sule has always supported sporting activities.

Ambassador Yargwa, further explained that the State Government holds in high respect citizens who made sure that their dreams of ensuring peace and unity among the people of Nasarawa state are supported.

” You can see that as a Government we are fully here with customized sports equipment, such as football which is being used in most International leagues.

“The Nasarawa State Government also considered sports, especially football tournaments as an anacea for youth engagements and hunting for talents.

I can authoritatively tell you that our Governor would do anything to maintain peace and unity among citizens of the State which tournaments as this offers such an avenue.

I most sincerely commend our brother Musa Maikaya for complimenting Government efforts towards achieving peace and unity in Nasarawa State” He added.

Npress Correspondent in Toto and in venue of the Maikaya Development Foundation football finals competition reported that no fewer than 15 football clubs participated in the competition but Kofa FC of Toto and Emani FC of Shafa Abakpa made it to the finals.

Apart from awards of medals to the various teams that participated in the competition, some dignitaries were given medals, as well as cultural groups.

Some security operatives also received awards, as the winner of the 2022/2023 edition of the football competition goes home with a trophy.
