As Muslims Ummah join their counterparts across the globe to commemorate this year’s eid-el-Kabir celebration in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, they have used the occasion to sue for peace, religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence amongst Nigerians.
Those who spoke to AIT said Muslim faithful should reflect and imbibe the essence of sacrifice and humility for the promotion of harmonious relationship in the country.
The Eid-el-Kabir celebration is a season that calls for rededication to the cause of mankind, to appreciate the gift of life and to imbibe the virtues of tolerance, understanding and good neighbourliness.
As Muslims faithful in Port Harcourt join their counterparts around the globe to mark the event, they sued for tolerance and peaceful coexistence amongst Nigerians across ethnic and religious divides.
This year’s celebration, like in the past few years, is coming at a difficult and trying times for many Nigerians and the nation at large especially with the challenges of insecurity ravaging various parts of the country, a situation these Muslim Ummah said all hands must be on deck to nip the hydra-headed monster in the bud.
The Muslim faithful were charged to go beyond the usual slaughtering of rams and sharing of gifts to their relatives to also reach out to displaced persons and the needy in the society.
