Delta NSF 2022: African bronze medalists claim gold, as team Delta shines in Judo

Former African Games bronze medal winner, Franca Audu won a second gold medal for the 21st National Sports Festival host, Delta State in the judo event.

Audu, 31, showed class as she defeated Charity Jatau of Yobe State 2-0 in the women’s 52kg judo event decided on Friday at the new multi-purpose hall of the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba.

The defeat saw Jatau with a silver medal while the duo of Remi Adegoke (Edo State) and Kafayat Azeez (Ondo State) got a bronze medal each.

In the men’s 60kg finals, Team Delta picked a third gold medal in the Judo event, after Michael Agbo defeated Solomon Ogah of FCT 5-1.

Meanwhile, Kehinde Aremu also won a gold medal for Delta State in the men’s 66kg category.

Aremu defeated Sadiq Abubakar who claimed silver for Sokoto State while Stephen Randa (Edo) and Destiny Ekpo (Akwa Ibom) won bronze for their respective states.
