The Khana LGA chairman, Bariere Thomas has said he inherited a community where insecurity was at its peak, but expended enormous energy and resources to making sure the people are secure from crime.
The chairman said this yesterday while addressing the youths of Khana that were at the boundary between Khana and Gokana to resist the illegal and failed planting of trees by the President, National Youth Council Of Nigeria, NYCN, Sokubo Saraigbe.
The chairman stressed that “Khana people are predominantly farmers and are better skilled and knowledgeable in tress planting. Moreso, we’re aware that Saraigbe is from the Riverine area of the state where illegal bunkering has damaged their mangrove and vegetations, and so if the lofty idea of trees planting, we also feel that if he mean well, he should start from his own local government so that the people will see that, oh!this thing has been done here and can be replicated in other areas”.
He concluded by saying, it’s now he realized that most of the insecurity in Khana was planted by forces that are external, and so he will not condone or tolerate anybody coming to this Local Government to carryout activities that will affect public life without seeking for approval.
