BVAS machines were simply put on flight mode – Abe

SDP Governorship Candidate in Rivers, Sen. Magnus Abe

The Governorship Candidate of the Social Democratic Party SDP in Rivers Senator Magnus Ngei Abe has said that the BVAS machines in Rivers were placed on flight mode to enable the PDP in the State to rig the February 25 election in the favour of the People’s Democratic Party PDP.

Senator Abe made this known to River’s people when he appeared on Talk of the Town public affairs talk show by Rhythm 93.7 FM in Port Harcourt on Monday

He called on River’s people to ensure that the right procedures as set by INEC for the conduct of the 2023 general election are followed in subsequent elections in all the polling units for the March 11th for Governorship and the State Houses of Assembly in Rivers.

“The electoral officials simply put the BVAS machines on flight mode because they are PDP members and their work there was to frustrate the people from voting” he said.

“When the head of IT here in Rivers State was suddenly changed and someone else came and started reconfigure machines that have already been configured, I knew they were up to something.”

The Governorship candidate added “But Rivers people need to be aware that if we are fool a second time, then we are proper fools and I know that Rivers people are not fools”.

Speaking on the way forward, he stated, “All I want is that Rivers people, if we say we want a new future that new future must start by us being able to enforce our rights to vote and elect the person we want, if we cannot do that, we cannot claim a new future because the future will be imposed on us”.

“So, we as River’s people must decide whether you are in Kalabari, weather you are in Egene, Ikwerri , Ogoni, all of us must agree that in Rivers, the procedure and guidelines of INEC for the election must be followed.”

Speaking further he stated “I may not be the beneficiary of it, but whoever is the beneficiary, all of us will be glad to support that person because the person was chosen by the majority of persons will do well for our State because he will respect the voters, he will know that the same way we agreed to put him there, if he does not do the thing that we expect we can still come together and agree to put someone else.”
