Barako community celebrates De Zua new yam festival

The ancient Kingdom of Barako Community in Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State has celebrated their Day Zua( New Yam Festival), an aged long tradition by the Ogoni ethnic nationality.

The natural ruler of the ancient Barako, chief Mene Kadilo KaBari has used the occasion to declare the seasonal rotation of crops and farm shifting as done by the People of Ogoni in Rivers State, Nigeria.

Day Zua New yam festival is celebrated every year to mark the new beginning of a new farming season.
